LOLA RV by the SEA: Our 1991 Dolphin Motorhome/RV Renovation

On Leap Day 2020 we welcomed our biggest baby yet to the family–a 34’ motorhome! She’s a 90s baby (1991 to be exact) with only 33k miles. ⠀

Long story kept short, this RV was offered to us in 2019 and it took us a year to bring her home. There was just so much unknown with such a gigantic & old motorhome, and we weren’t sure it was worth our energy or money. Mechanical fixes alone could have made it not worth it, even before any cosmetic updates!⠀

Fortunately our neighbor is an RV mechanic, so after a thorough review and a big thumbs up from him, we decided to give the green light. Everything worked perfectly on the mechanical front, but the interior needed a lot of TLC. It’s an old rig that was well cared for, but has sat in a storage yard for the last 4 years… so let’s just say everything needed to go (mostly just for aesthetics).

Our plans for a 2-3 month reno project were drastically prolonged thanks to the pandemic, shipping issues, work from home, no school, and having a new baby April 2020. It was a whirlwind, but I think taking our time with this remodel allowed us to make smart decisions and the results are better than I envisioned.
